Destin Real Estate Market: Is it Picking Up?
Word on the street is that there are some areas of the Destin Real Estate Market that may be picking up. I could go look at facts, statistics but I like best, nose to the ground, in the know type of research.
The only reason for stating that the Destin real estate market may be picking up is this: the good realtors are busy now! I’ve got a few realtors in the Destin to Panama City Beach real estate market that I call on a regular basis to check in on how the market is doing and look at deals. For the first time in quite a while, the answer back to me from these realtors was “Maria, I have a buyer in town, can I meet up with you in a few days instead of today” or when I do meet with one of my realtors…”Maria, I’ve got to dash and meet with my seller who has accepted an offer”. So that does indeed tell me something…smart investors are picking up deals and that is a good sign. Now please don’t get excited and think the market is coming back and we will have the crazy appreciation of the past…keep in mind that this area:
- Is a great long term play as I’ve always said
- Was selected by Business 2.0 as best place to invest for 2007 and also featured on CNN
- Is a place where baby boomers want to be
- Is part of Florida, where the State of Florida’s economic office estimates that 1,100 poeple a day are now moving to Florida.
The area of real estate picking up now according to some realtors in the know are homes under the $500,000 mark.
Fall is a wonderful time to visit, great temperatures, white sandy beaches and if you do come to buy….remember to negotiate a close date in February so you can vacation rent your property out at the start of the high tourist season! Of course, I’ve made the assumption you are buying a second home or vacation home…if it is a home to live in year round, then make a low offer that you feel embarrassed to make as there are many good deals out there right now and folks will sell in this real estate market.
